EPA Said Global Warming Unproven To Obtain A Legal Ruling For Their Climate Regulations

Watts Up With That?

Guest opinion: Dr. Tim Ball

Courts will not sit in judgment of scientific disputes. A lawyer told me it becomes “your paper” against “my paper” and courts argue they’re not qualified to make the required scientific judgments. This is a reasonable position and causes some to advocate for “scientific” courts, but that is not normally necessary. Application of the scientific method of hypothesis, skeptical analysis, publication, and peer review, do the job. It is precisely the failure of these applications that cause false climate science to exist. Because of the court’s position, including the US Supreme Court, they are vulnerable to exploitation. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) used the vulnerability to achieve a political goal. It seems that proof they did it deliberately is in the position they took about global warming. In the EPA machinations to establish regulatory and bureaucratic control over CO2 they had to argue that global…

Patrick J. Michaels testifies before the Committee of Natural Resources at the hearing “An Analysis of the Obama Administration’s Social Cost of Carbon”

The “social cost of carbon” is a reference to CO2. The social cost is a fabrication

Watts Up With That?

Climatologist Dr. Pat Michaels writes:

In his introductory remarks, Congressman Lowenthal (D-NY) went on the usual these-witnesses-are-climate-deniers rant.  As I was the next speaker, I re-wrote my oral testimony to point out, in three spots, that people who did not recognize the low-sensitivity papers, or the huge disparity between the midtropospheric observed and modeled data, or the low sensitivity in the multiauthored Otto study (15 of the authors were lead  authors in the last IPCC repor)t, were in fact “science deniers”.

Judging from his reaction at the end of the hearing, it really got to him.

How Now Shall We Think?

This is where we have arrived in this country. We are no longer an autonomous culture. It is not enough that homosexuals have been allowed to marry; now Christians must be forced to bake a cake for something they find morally reprehensible.
“Zacharias talks about a conversation with someone who disagreed with his opinion: “If we are an autonomous culture and I answer your question are you going to give me the privilege of my autonomy too, or as soon as I give you my answer you will switch to a heteronymous mode and dictate for me what I must believe as well?” That is the sociological dilemma. If A disagrees with B, B wants to enforce his/her principles upon A.”

Enough for Today

With Friday’s news of the Supreme Court’s decision regarding gay marriage, questions abound.  What is marriage? Why is marriage so important?  How can a court of nine people make such a weighty decision for 320 million people? What will this mean for Christians (and other religious people) who disagree, not on the basis of prejudice but conviction? As I write this blog, the color bar at the top of my WordPress screen is the color of a rainbow. Google’s home page has this statement, “YouTube and Google are proud to celebrate marriage equality. #ProudtoLove.” Today, the White House’s Facebook page colored the White House with the colors of a rainbow.

With so many loud voices, how now shall we think?

What is marriage? Friday the high court weighed in on something that predated the existence of this country and the existence of American culture and all other cultures. As Christians we believe that God…

Bring it, Mr. Wirth – a challenge

Watts Up With That?

UPDATE (Sunday 6/26 8:30AM): After choosing the quote of the week this week (see above here) I’ve come to the conclusion that former Senator Wirth is mentally incapable of debating the issue in a rational manner, would likely not respond, and thus there is no point in keeping this as a top post. – A

Former Senator Tim Wirth invoked the nuclear option yesterday. Small mushroom clouds are now appearing across the world as people read what he said. This is my response to him. It will remain the top post for the next few days or until Mr. Wirth responds to the offer made below.

I got the email about this bit of climate ugliness just after having dinner Friday night. I couldn’t do anything about it while I was driving home from Sacramento then, and it is a good thing, because it made me quite angry. The…

BREAKING NEWS: scientist admits IPCC used fake data to pressure policy makers

Under the “Never Forget” category:

Watts Up With That?

The IPCC is now damaged goods. Pachauri is toast, and nobody will be able to cite the IPCC AR4 again without this being brought up.

The Daily Mail’s David Rose in the UK broke this story, it is mind boggling fraud to prod “government action” and grants. Emphasis in red mine.

From the Daily Mail

The scientist behind the bogus claim in a Nobel Prize-winning UN report that Himalayan glaciers will have melted by 2035 last night admitted it was included purely to put political pressure on world leaders.

Dr Murari Lal also said he was well aware the statement, in the 2007 report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), did not rest on peer-reviewed scientific research.

In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, Dr Lal, the co-ordinating lead author of the report’s chapter on Asia, said: ‘It related to several countries in this region and their…

Why Obama’s Iran Nuclear Deal Is So Awful And Actually GUARANTEES Iran Will Get Nuclear Weapons AND THE BALLISTIC MISSILES TO DELIVER THEM

Start Thinking Right

I’ve pointed out that even the leftist New York Times acknowledges that Barack Obama is basically a malignant narcissist who believes that he’s better than everyone, smarter than everyone, more wonderful than everyone. And that he’s always right no matter what the facts say to the contrary.  The Iran nuclear deal is “historic” precisely because Obama flies in the face of all previous presidents, all previous American history, Iran’s amply demonstrated history of pathological hatred for America, Iran’s repeatedly demonstrated ability to ignore deals they made with “infidels,” numerous deadly attacks against Americans from Iran, and so on.  None of it matters to him.  He alone knows.  He believes he is God and the rest of us are mere mortal sheep to be led or slaughtered as he sees fit.

It is frankly amazing: if Obama had treated Iran the way he treats Republicans and pretty much everybody – including…

No, Greenland Is Not Melting Down

Real Science

Contrary to the flagrant lies of John Abraham and the Guardian, Greenland is not “melting down.”

At the peak of the melt season, there is a 60 mile wide band on the west coast which is showing signs of significant melting.  Other regions near the coast are seeing minor surface melting.

August 2014 Global Surface (Land+Ocean) and Lower Troposphere Temperature Anomaly Update

Watts Up With That?

Guest Post by Bob Tisdale

This post provides an update of the data for the three primary suppliers of global land+ocean surface temperature data—GISS through August 2014 and HADCRUT4 and NCDC through July 2014—and of the two suppliers of satellite-based lower troposphere temperature data (RSS and UAH) through August 2014.

Initial Notes: GISS LOTI, and the two lower troposphere temperature datasets are for the most recent month. The HADCRUT4 and NCDC data lag one month.

This post contains graphs of running trends in global surface temperature anomalies for periods of 13+ and 17+ years using GISS global (land+ocean) surface temperature data. They indicate that we have not seen a warming halt (based on 13-years+ trends) this long since the late-1970s or a warming slowdown (based on 17-years+ trends) since about 1980. I used to rotate the data suppliers for this portion of the update, also using NCDC and HADCRUT…
