The climate consensus is not 97% – it’s 100%

Watts Up With That?

By Christopher Monckton of Brenchley

Shock news from the Heartland Institute’s Ninth International Climate Change Conference: among the 600 delegates, the consensus that Man contributes to global warming was not 97%. It was 100%.

President for life Robert Mugabe wants the UN (meaning America) to provide $1.5 billion per year, to feed Zimbabwean people who are currently going hungry, thanks to his government’s decade long policy of looting and trashing productive farms. Naturally he blames his country’s problems on “climate change”.

According to the Zimbabwe Herald;

THE ink is still wet on a climate deal to “save the world” agreed at Paris last December, but Southern Africa is already counting the costs of climate change-linked catastrophes.

A severe drought caused by El Nino has left over 14 million people across the usually food secure region in need of food support, aid agencies say. El Nino may not be a direct result of climate change, but…

Record cold: Single digit to subzero Valentine’s Day expected for much of NE USA

February is usually pretty brutal – I remember quite a few in which the wind blew incessantly for 2 weeks with temps in the single digits and lows well below zero. Pipes freezing were a constant concern. Of course those who are afraid of global warming obviously have no such memories and never had to deal with such issues, or they’d gladly welcome warmer winters.

Watts Up With That?

There’s a cold wind blowing for Valentine’s Day, and it blows from the Arctic.

Obama The Coal Cheerleader

Real Science

Last summer, Obama knew that even the 1.5 million dead voters registered in Ohio might not be enough to win him the election. So he pretended for a few weeks that he was a big supporter of coal.

Everyone knows election season is a time of craven politicking. But a new radio ad the Obama campaign is running in Ohio might be a new low, dinging Mitt Romney for remarking that coal “kills people.”

Here’s a clip of the ad, which is running in Ohio, via Politico:

“When he ran for President, Barack Obama pledged to support clean coal and invest in new technologies,” the ad says.

Validation Of A Climate Model Is Mandatory: The Invaluable work of Dr. Vincent Gray

Watts Up With That?

Guest Opinion: Dr. Tim Ball

Early Awareness

Vincent Gray, M.A., Ph.D. is one of the most effective critics of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) through his NZ Climate Truth Newsletter and other publications. He prefaces comments to the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition as follows.

As an Expert Reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for eighteen years, that is to say, from the very beginning. I have submitted thousands of comments to all of the Reports. My comments on the Fourth IPCC Report, all 1,898 of them, are to be found at IPCC (2007) and my opinions of the IPCC are in Gray (2008b).

His most recent publication is “The Global Warming Scam and the Climate Change Super Scam” that builds on his very effective first critique, The Greenhouse Delusion: A Critique of “Climate Change 2001”. We now know that the 2001 Report included the hockey…

A study published in Science reveals that a number of teachers are rebelling against Federal education directives – that a significant number of school teachers are failing to indoctrinate their students with the politically approved position on climate change, or worse, are teaching students that there are forcings other than CO2, which might be driving changes in global temperature.

According to the Washington Post;

A major new survey of U.S. middle school and high school science teachers has found that across the country, a majority are teaching about climate change in their classrooms — but a significant percentage are also including incorrect ideas, such as the notion that today’s warming of the globe is a “natural” process.

The study, published in Science Thursday by Eric Plutzer of Penn State University and a number…

The Profiteers of climate doom

Watts Up With That?

Ten killer questions that expose how wrong and ideologically driven they are

by Christopher Monckton of Brenchley, Willie Soon and David R. Legates

A century or so from now, based on current trends, today’s concentration of carbon dioxide in the air will have doubled. How much warming will that cause? The official prediction, 1.5-4.5 degrees Celsius (2.7-8.1 degrees Fahrenheit) per doubling of CO2, is proving a substantial exaggeration.

Professor William Happer of Princeton, one of the world’s foremost physicists, says computer models of climate rely on the assumption that CO2’s direct warming effect is about a factor of two higher than what is actually happening in the real world. This is due to incorrect representations of the microphysical interactions of CO2 molecules with other infrared photons.

As if that were not bad enough, the official story is that feedbacks triggered by direct warming roughly triple the warming, causing not 1…

NASA satellite deniers

Four years ago, the people with The Right Stuff sent this letter to NASA satellite deniers James Hansen and Gavin Schmidt, who are completely destroying the agency’s reputation with their junk science.

The Honorable Charles Bolden, Jr.
NASA Administrator
NASA Headquarters
Washington, D.C. 20546-0001

Dear Charlie,

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites. We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data. With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled.

The unbridled advocacy of CO2 being…

Explosive: United Nations IPCC Climate Models Looking more like a Trillion Dollar Hoax, hardly science, more like crime - The Conservative Voice in Global News

Trees found in Europe have increased global warming, a new study finds.

Six months ago we find out that Scientists behind assumptions in IPPC climate models had fudged their figures by using a flawed process to estimate the number of trees on the earth, they now admit there are over 3 Trillion trees on the planet whereas based on earlier satellite imagery their assumptions built into the UN IPCC approved Models promoted as settled science included an estimate of only 400 billion. oops small error.

Late last year we also were told that oops China the biggest emitter of anthropogenic CO2 had been fudging the figures by under reporting the amount of coal it has been burning by about 17% and reporting its total emissions by 20% to 40%.

So we now know that at least two of the most assumptions relating to fundamental elements…

Wind Power Disaster: South Australians Grapple with Rocketing Power Prices, an Unstable Grid & Rolling Blackouts

koutsantonis SA’s Energy Minister, Tom Koutsantonis: asleep at the wheel.

In Australia’s wind farm capital, South Australia the terms ‘chaos’ and ‘crisis’ are used to describe the aftermath of an energy policy ‘designed’ on desktops by dimwits, who haven’t got the faintest clue about how power generation works (or much else, for that matter).

Wind power collapses and blackouts are now part of South Australian life: Wind Industry’s Armageddon: Wind Farm Output Collapse Leaves 110,000 South Australian Homes & Businesses Powerless

The Genesis of the wind power debacle was pretty well captured by Leo Smith in our recent post – Why Weather Dependent, Intermittent & Unreliable Wind Power is as ‘Useful as a Chocolate Teapot’ – and summed up as follows:

There is, above all, one salient feature that emerges across the board. Sanity and rationalism have been cast aside, and the whole arena is now a political and ideological
