Abstract:
Frederick Seitz asserts that the report on global warming released in Jun 1996 by the UN
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is not the same version that was approved by the  contributing body of scientists listed on the title page. Seitz explains how the events that led to the IPCC report are “a disturbing corruption of the peer-review process” and says the deleted passages removed “hints of the skepticism” with which many scientists regard claims about global warming.

Another Endangered Species?

Watts Up With That?

Guest essay by Viv Forbes Washpool   Qld Australia

Earth is a dangerous place. Of all the species that have ever lived, over 95% have already been extinguished by natural disasters.

Ice, not global warming, is the big killer and this recurring calamity often strikes quickly. Thousands of mammoths and other animals were killed by ice storms and their snap-frozen bodies are still entombed in ice around the Arctic. Just 15,000 years ago great ice sheets smothered the northern hemisphere as far south as Chicago, Moscow and London and all life had migrated towards the equator. This deadly ice had gripped Earth for about 50,000 years.

Ice ages are also times of dry winds and drought as cold oceans and cold dry atmospheres produce little evaporation or precipitation. Great deserts like the Sahara and the Gobi expand, and wind-blown dust fills the skies and rivers.

Adding to Ice Age woes, cold…

Australia’s ABC Media Cites Dodgy Survey To Slander Christians (Again)

PA Pundits International

By Andrew Bolt ~

The ABC’s Julia Baird has done it again, once again making false claims to suggest Christians are likely to be wife beaters.

Baird last year led a high-profile series of anti-church reports with a dramatic claim that “evangelical men who sporadically attend church are more likely than men of any other religious group (and more likely than secular men) to assault their wives”.

Australian Broadcasting Corporation Logo

She made the same claim on 7.30.

But, as I pointed out, Baird’s claim was utterly false:

The most likely wife-bashers are Aboriginal men, with Aboriginal women at least 31 times more likely to be hospitalised.

And I noted Baird’s single source — Arizona theology professor Steven Tracy — in fact cited surveys showing Christian men were less likely to hit women.

So how did the ABC respond? By issuing a tweet attacking “those who want to dispute the women’s…

Earth hour is tonight – instead of turning off your lights, turn them on to celebrate what electricity has done for mankind

It’s certainly given anyone with internet access a voice.

Watts Up With That?

This excellent essay on the Earth Hour event, to be held tonight at 8:30PM in every local time zone, is an eye-opener.  Earth Hour is a testament to stupidity, in my opinion, and deserves to be mocked. North Korea reminds us what it is like to like in darkness, both politically, and in energy poverty.

Earth Hour: A Dissent

In 2009 I was asked by a journalist for my thoughts on the importance of Earth Hour.

Here is my response.

I abhor Earth Hour. Abundant, cheap electricity has been the greatest source of human liberation in the 20th century. Every material social advance in the 20th century depended on the proliferation of inexpensive and reliable electricity.

Giving women the freedom to work outside the…

Climate Change Could Make The Opioid Crisis Worse

March 24th, 2018
By Marlene Cimons

America’s opioid epidemic has dominated the news media in recent years, as drug overdose deaths have escalated, decimating lives and families. And while climate change may not be top of mind in discussions about how to effectively deal with this crisis, it’s a factor that shouldn’t be ignored. Global warming spawns extreme weather, which begets destruction and despair, a dangerous scenario for people looking for a way to numb their emotional pain.

“It is reasonable to expect that damage and destruction cause emotional and mental health problems and lead to drug abuse, both new and existing users,” said Stephan Goetz, professor of agricultural and regional economics at

Watts Up With That?

From the Oakland City Attorney: (h/t to Dr. Willie Soon)

Oakland Climate Change Lawsuit

City of Oakland sues top five oil and gas companies to make them pay the cost of protecting human life and property from climate change

On September 19, 2017, Oakland City Attorney Barbara J. Parker and San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera filed separate lawsuits on behalf of their respective cities against the five largest investor-owned producers of fossil fuels in the world.

The lawsuits ask the courts to hold these companies responsible for the costs of sea walls and other infrastructure necessary to protect Oakland and San Francisco from ongoing and future consequences of climate change and sea level rise caused by the companies’ production of massive amounts of fossil fuels.

The defendant companies – Chevron, ConocoPhilips, Exxon Mobil, BP and Royal Dutch Shell – have known for decades that fossil fuel-driven global warming…

The Carbon Isotope Ratio Nonsense

Climate sack

An Example of the Little-Moron Logic & Mendacity of BOOP:

The Carbon Isotope Ratio Nonsense.

  1. F. Kenney

Gas Resources Corporation

According to the program, I am supposed to explain the spontaneous generation of natural petroleum in 15(!) minutes.  This subject is one which involves, in detail, the statistical mechanics of chemical thermodynamic stability theory.  Fifteen minutes would be inadequate to give even an introduction to the subject.

For the moment, please understand first that the unnecessary and misleading adjective “abiotic” should be dropped as a modifier of the term natural petroleum.  Natural petroleum is generated spontaneously only at high pressures.  The high pressures necessary for the generation of petroleum occur at depths in the Earth where the temperatures are sufficiently  high that any biological molecule would have thoroughly decomposed at a much shallower depth.

Many misguided persons have attempted during the past 75 years to demonstrate in…

Climate Change is Killing Us: My Open Letter to Prime Minister Trudeau & Environment Minister McKenna

Watts Up With That?

(sent via email 21-Oct-2017)

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau and Minister McKenna; Canada has a problem.

Climate Change is Killing Us.

Or more precisely, your view of climate change is killing us.

The first issue is to understand the words “climate change.” In the recent public discourse, “climate change” has come to mean “blaming humans for changing the climate by using oil and gas and coal.” That creates a major difficulty, because it means that anytime the uninformed see an aspect of climate that either they haven’t seen before or an aspect that is genuinely changed, the underlying assumption is that it must be our own fault and it must be change for the worse. This view of our climate as primarily anthropomorphic is useful for scaring the populace into submission so…
