Weather Satellite Wanders Through Time, Space, Causing Stray Warming to Contaminate Data

In the late 1990s, the NOAA-14 weather satellite went wandering through time and space, apparently changing the record of Earth’s climate as it went.

Designed for an orbit synchronized with the sun, NOAA-14’s orbit from pole to pole was supposed to cross the equator at 1:30 p.m. on the sunlit side of the globe and at 1:30 a.m. on the dark side, 14 times each day. One of the instruments it carried was a microwave sounding unit (MSU), which looked down at the world and collected data on temperatures in Earth’s atmosphere and how those temperatures changed through time.

By the time NOAA-14 was finishing its useful life in 2005, however, it had strayed eastward from its intended orbit until it was crossing the equator…

After a brief mild spell, temperatures are set to dip again in April after the chilliest March in 21 years.

An additional 2,000 deaths more than average were expected due to cold conditions between March 23 and 31, this winter’s average death rates show.

Campaigners have called the deaths a “national tragedy” as cold weather victims fatalities could be prevented – especially in the elderly.

RIP the 48,000 Brits who have succumbed to the deadly cold of 2018.

A few things come to mind that piss-me-off owing to this tragic loss of life that was and is entirely avoidable, if not for a climate of CO2-centric-global-warming-zealotry from our most trusted ‘experts’:

Snow in Los Angeles County, NWS Winter Advisory

From 2011

Watts Up With That?

From the “weather is not climate” department…

Apparently, Nature is weighing in some support for action in Sacramento to end California’s economically punishing anti-carbon law. We saw earlier this winter some significant snowfall in Los Angeles, but Hollywierd continues to suffer the cold shoulder and chill wind of nature even as spring is well underway.

Today the National Weather Service issued the following advisory, cautioning potential snowfall in LA county in the Antelope Valley and Santa Barbara, with snow accumulations of up to 4-7 inches possible:
